都会のあわただしい環境から、里山ののどかな環境へと私の生活は一変した。眠っていた生き物達がちょうど目を覚まし始めた季節に、私はこの里山にやってきた。すっかり葉をおとし枯れてしまったような山の木々は、春の訪れとともに一斉に若葉をつけ、寂しかった野原も、花があちらこちらで咲き始めた。そしてその花達に誘われるように、どこからともなく虫や鳥がやって来て、里山はあれよあれよという間にとてもにぎやかになった。いろんな生き物に囲まれたこの自然豊かな環境での生活は、小さな発見や出会いの連続で、目まぐるしく変化しているこの世の中からすると、どうって事ないことかもしれないけれど私にはそれがすごく新鮮に映った。そして自然の生き物達はどんな状況に追い込まれようとも、最後まで一生懸命生きている。そんな姿を目の当たりにすると、私も生きたい、いや、、生き抜いてやる、、、というエネルギーが静かに湧いてくるのを感じる。自然のリズムの中で恩恵を受けながら、私はその一部として生きているのだという思いを表現できればと思う。（川合治子）

My life completely changed when I moved from the fast-paced city to a peaceful countryside. I moved to this satoyama just when the animals were waking up from hibernation. Trees that once withered have grown fresh leaves with the arrival of spring, and in the gloomy prairie, flowers are blooming here and there. As if the flowers have invited them, insects and birds appear from nowhere, the satoyama suddenly becomes very festive. My life surrounded by various plants and animals is full of new discoveries and encounters. Although my life here may not mean much in an ever so changing world, it all seemed so new to me. All the living things in the nature, whatever threat they may encounter, they live life to the fullest. Observing such , my desire to live, to live my life to the fullest — the energy silently oozes through my body. I want to portray how my life is part of the rhythm of nature. (KAWAI Haruko)
